How to Check Your Local Air Quality Index (AQI Guide)

How to Check Your Local Air Quality Index (AQI Guide)

1. How to Download & Install the Sameer App

Step Action/Visuals Host Script
STEP 1: Find the Store Show tapping the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). "Step 1: Get the App. Go to your phone's App Store. This is the only place to get the official version.
STEP 2: Search Show typing the keyword "Sameer" or "Sameer India's AQI" in the search bar. "In the search bar, type in 'Sameer'. The official app is published by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)—make sure you check the developer name to avoid fakes!"
STEP 3: Install Show tapping the app icon (it often has a unique green/blue logo) and then hitting the 'Install' button. "Tap the app icon and hit 'Install' or 'Get'. It's a free app. Once downloaded, tap 'Open'."
STEP 4: Permissions Show the initial screen, especially the request for location access. "When you first open it, you may need to grant Location Permission. Choose 'Allow while using the app' so it can instantly show you the data from the monitor closest to your current location."

2. How to Use and Read the Data

Step Action/Visuals Host Script
STEP 5: View the AQI Show the app opening to the main dashboard. Circle or highlight the large AQI number and the corresponding color. "Step 5: See your AQI. Right there on the home screen, you'll see the current National AQI value. This number is directly from the official CPCB monitoring station near you. The color-coding tells you instantly if the air is Good, Satisfactory, Moderate, or worse."
STEP 6: Check the Location Show the part of the screen where the current monitoring station and location are listed. "Always check which station the data is from—it's usually listed at the top. The app will automatically try to find the nearest station, but you can also use the search bar to check any other city or monitoring station across India."
STEP 7: Lodge Complaints (Bonus Feature) Briefly show the "Complaints" or "Grievances" section. "Here’s a great bonus feature: the Sameer app also lets you lodge air pollution complaints! Tap the Complaints section, and you can report issues like garbage burning or dust using geo-tagged photos directly to the CPCB authorities."

Excellent tutorial! I especially appreciate the heads-up about the Location Permission (Step 4) and the reminder to check the Monitoring Station (Step 6). Knowing where the data comes from is key. Thanks for the breakdown—downloading the app now!
